The Wahapahapa Band

Wahapahapa means ‘originates from here’. The Wahapahapa band provides original music for the popular radio serial drama - Wahapahapa.

The origin of humanity has been traced to a location in the Great Rift Valley of Northern Tanzania. In this Garden of Eden on the Serengeti Plains is where men and women stamped their feet, dancing to rhythms that would define the pulse of humanity, later evolving and encompassing the world.

The Wahapahapa band celebrates the genesis and evolution of world music.Evolutionary and revolutionary, Wahapahapa's songs call for social transformation and justice through a unique blend of homegrown music inspired by diverse Swahili traditions and influences of contemporary world music.
